The Anselmi family established themselves as winemakers in the 1920’s when they purchased a small estate in the north east of Italy in the Friuli region, the vineyard is located on the coast so enjoys warm days and a cooling effect in the evenings.
The family business is now run by the brothers Guiseppe and Lugi Anselmi who still use traditional techniques to create aromatic and flavoursome wines. Deep honey yellow in colour, it has slight more viscosity than a normal white wine, but only slight and its sweet, dessert wines from this region are better known as Picolit and normally come in smaller bottles. The Verduzzo is sweet but also light, more like a German Riesling.
The wine achieves its sweetness by late harvesting and the Passito method of drying the grapes before fermentation. It has a perfect mix of richness, honey, tropical fruits, almonds and balancing acidity.
